Good to know
- In Ontario, someone who finds tenants or leases property for others for pay may need to be registered with RECO under the Trust in Real Estate Services Act, 2002. Condo managers need a CMRAO licence. Ask for the number.
- Rent should go into a separate trust account, not the manager's own account.
- The owner is still the landlord at the Landlord and Tenant Board. Make sure the manager follows the Residential Tenancies Act and the Human Rights Code.
