Good to know
- Ontario residential: ask the landlord in writing first. If the landlord refuses or doesn't answer within 7 days, you may give notice to end the tenancy within 30 days (Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, s. 95).
- An assignment is not a sublet: the new tenant takes over the whole lease for the rest of its term, and you do not come back.
- Do the move-out and move-in inspection together with the landlord on the effective date.
