Good to know
- A will made here is valid in Ontario only when it is printed and signed in ink by you in front of two witnesses together. The checklist at the end shows exactly how.
- A handwritten will (holograph will) is also valid in Ontario, but it must be all in your own handwriting. A printed will needs the two witnesses.
- Make a new will after a marriage, separation, a new child or a big change in what you own. Since January 2022, marriage no longer cancels your old will in Ontario.
- Islamic or other religious inheritance shares: write the people and shares you want in the 'people I name' option, and ask your imam or a lawyer to check them.
Help in your language
Every question comes with help like this. For example, “Does any of these apply to you?”:
English: If one does, a lawyer should check your document before you sign it. You can still make a draft here.
