Good to know
- In Ontario a pet is property. To make the gift binding, put the pet and the money to the caregiver in your will or a codicil; this letter tells them how you want the pet cared for.
- Money left "to the dog" can fail. Leave it to the caregiver and say you wish it to be used for the pet.
- Keep a copy with your will and give one to the caregiver and your emergency contact.
