Good to know
- Public performances of music need licences from SOCAN and Re:Sound. Venues and event organizers usually hold them; a private family event in a rented hall is often covered by the hall.
- If the artist is not a resident of Canada, the purchaser may have to withhold tax (usually 15%) from the fee and send it to CRA. Check CRA's rules for non-resident performers.
- Put the technical rider (sound and stage needs) in writing early to avoid fights on the day.
