Good to know
- Ontario: a farm land lease is a commercial tenancy (Commercial Tenancies Act). A lease longer than 3 years should be registered on title, or a buyer of the land may not be bound by it.
- The farmer should give the owner their Farm Business Registration number so the land keeps the farm property tax class (Agricorp manages the Farm Property Class Tax Rate Program).
- Crop insurance through Agricorp is the farmer's choice and cost. Write down the drainage tile maps and soil tests at the start.
